Brainspotting
Brainspotting (BSP) is a therapeutic approach that focuses on the deep processing of traumatic experiences and the resolution of emotional and psychological issues. Developed by Dr. David Grand in 2003, Brainspotting is based on the concept of "brainspots," which are specific eye positions that correlate with the activation of traumatic or emotionally charged memories in the brain.
The theory behind Brainspotting is rooted in the understanding of the brain-body connection and the way trauma and emotional stress are stored in the body. According to Brainspotting, traumatic experiences and unresolved emotions can become trapped in the body, leading to a variety of symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and chronic pain.
Brainspotting aims to access and process these trapped emotions and memories by focusing on specific eye positions that correlate with the activation of these experiences in the brain. By holding the eyes in a specific position, clients are able to access and process these experiences where they are located in the brain, leading to resolution and healing in the mind and body.
