Jarid Hill, MA, LLC

Hello, I'm Jarid, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor dedicated to guiding individuals through their unique journeys toward healing and growth.

My desire to be a counselor stemmed from a longing to make a meaningful impact on people's lives. After years in the corporate world, I craved a career with purpose, one that allowed me to foster deep connections and witness transformation. What I love most about counseling is the opportunity to form authentic relationships with my clients. I'm honored to share in their growth and witness their lives transform into something fulfilling.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and collaboration. I create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and its potential for healing. I also value challenging my clients in a way that pushes them forward. I am not the kind of therapist to let you come in weekly and just maintain the status quo of your life. Together we will constantly push toward the change that you are looking for and the change that you need.

The most rewarding moments in my practice are when clients experience empathy for themselves and their stories. This self-acceptance allows them to envision a clear path forward and embrace personal growth. My clients often tell me that their therapy experiences with me are unlike any other. They appreciate my deep engagement, presence, and understanding. I prioritize a collaborative, equal, and beneficial relationship with each client.

My own mental and emotional well-being is a priority. I have my own therapist and apply my knowledge and experience to my life. I find joy in mindfulness practices, humor, and spending time with loved ones. Outside of counseling, I enjoy reading sci-fi and fantasy novels, playing video games, golfing, going to the movies, music, and spending time on the water.

I created my own practice to have the freedom to meet my clients where they are and provide them with the best care possible. I value the autonomy to tailor my approach without external constraints. Thank you for considering me as your guide on your path to well-being. I look forward to supporting you through your journey.

Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
The Townsend Institute for Leadership & Counseling at Concordia University Irvine

This CACREP-accredited program equipped me with the skills to engage deeply with individuals facing issues like depression, anxiety, relational problems, trauma, and many other mental health issues. The Townsend Institute, housed within Concordia University Irvine, offered a unique relational learning approach, emphasizing competence, character, and connection.

2012-2016

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Development
Oakland University

The Human Resources Development (or HRD) helped me understand how to help people reach their highest potential, be well-organized, and have strong interpersonal skills. The program emphasized collaboration and service to others, which enabled me to gain constructive problem-solving skills, be other-oriented, and learn how to play a supportive role in my career.

2024

IFS Immersion: Integrating Internal Family Systems (IFS) Across Clinical Applications
Professional Education Systems Institute (PESI)

This training program gave me a comprehensive understanding of Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. The program covers various applications of IFS, including trauma treatment, attachment wounds, disordered eating, shame, anxiety, depression, addiction, and more. The training explored how to integrate IFS with other therapeutic approaches and provides practical techniques for working with clients of diverse backgrounds, including children, adolescents, LGBTQ2IA+ individuals, and those affected by racial trauma. It also discusses the future of IFS and its potential applications in various fields beyond mental health.

2023

Brainspotting Phase 1 Training
Cherie Lindberg & Brainspotting Training Team

This training teaches the phenomenological approach behind Brainspotting, strategies for identifying and processing Brainspots, and how to integrate it into ongoing treatment. I was equipped, through lectures, live demonstrations, and small group practices, with powerful tools for addressing emotional, somatic, and performance issues.

2023

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) On-Demand Basics Training
AEDP Institute

This workshop focuses on Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). It covered techniques like dyadic affect regulation, healing-oriented emotion processing, and metatherapeutic processing to consolidate therapeutic gains and foster transformational experiences. The training addresses five key aspects of being a transformational therapist, emphasizing the importance of experiential work, nonverbal communication, and meta-processing to guide sessions effectively. I learned how to translate attachment research into clinical practice, track somatic and affective markers, and apply AEDP techniques to facilitate secure attachment and emotional exploration. The workshop is designed to provide both new and experienced therapists with practical tools for working experientially and addressing common challenges in the therapeutic process.
